Great Shape! Inc. SuperKids Team Visits U.R.G.E. School in Chepstowe, Jamaica

Great Shape! Inc. SuperKids Literacy project volunteers worked in seven schools around Ocho Rios for these last two weeks, bringing teachers and curriculum in reading, computers, music, art and sports. What a joyful day on Wednesday when we ventured to the Chepstowe Basic School adopted by U.R.G.E, the charitable foundation founded by Ziggy Marley. About three dozen children attend the school, ages 3-6 years old. U.R.G.E.'s tent classroom and playground equipment were both in full swing when we arrived. How great to be working with Great Shape! Inc. and U.R.G.E to help the children of Jamaica!

Our Great Shape! SuperKids team carried boxes of books and school supplies for the students and teachers, and presented Principal Mrs. Wallen with some of the beautiful school bags from U.R.G.E.

SuperKids Literacy team leaders Pat Schneider, Georgene "Mama G" Crowe and Gretchen Lee also gave the school a check for uniforms and other necessities. Giving thanks for all our blessings.

The children were enjoying morning break, and I could already smell a delicious lunch cooking in the school's kitchen.

A look at the newly installed Peace Garden on school grounds. Wished I could stay a while and plant some Irish in those tires. The garden site is perfect, and the soil looks vibrant, wish we had more time and a couple more shovels... That large tree on the left grows the sweetest grapefruit on earth, trust me! Mr. Bob picked a sack of them for us to enjoy, give thanks.

Nice little sorrel plants bordered by Pak Choi in the garden. Lookin great!

The new playground is seeing a lot of action.

One of the classrooms in this wonderful environment for the children.

Young readers and future leaders! Great Shape! is looking forward to visiting the Chepstowe Basic School again, and we're really happy to be joining forces with U.R.G.E. for the kids of Jamaica and a brighter future. One Love!
